The 'Story Sensations' Teacher's Pack contains an Audio CD, Teacher's Guide and Story Script:
Audio CD - running time 30+ minutes
- The CD incorporates all the narrative, music and sound effects required for the story.
- One activity is featured per story track, making it easy to select or repeat activities as appropriate.
- Extended music or sound effects are included on each track to allow time for the related activity.
- Four extra music tracks are included to play whilst the children arrive into the classroom and the props are laid out ready for use.
Teacher's Guide - 20 A4 pages in display book format
- Features a comprehensive list of suggested sensory props and potential alternatives.
- Step by step notes show how to 'tell' the sensory story.
- Practical advice is given to link sensory activities with pupil targets and P scales.
- An example lesson plan is provided, along with a lesson plan template that can be photocopied.
Just supply your own props to get started!
Although suggestions are included in the Teacher's Guide, you are of course free to use your own props and actvities against the backdrop of the audio CD. This gives you the flexibility to:
- Make use of appropriate props you already have.
- Use alternative props where preferred.
- Tailor the props and activities to match specific requirements.
- Change the props and activities from time to time.
Make the most of your sensory story pack
Cost-effective use of core props for the 'Lofty' range of stories
The Lofty theme allows you to make cost-effective use of certain key props across all four stories, as well as building recognition and anticipation amongst the children
Optional large print story books
We can supply large print story books to accompany each of the sensory story packs, giving you the flexibility to use this resource with a wider range of abilities. They are supplied in packs of 5 (A5 format, 20 pages) and are printed using an easy to read font.
Alternative props and activities
Alternative props and activities can also be used to extend the range of abilities this resource is suitable for. For example, pupils could help create a scene using models to act out the story as they listen to the CD.
